Yes. MTS Forge performs in-house normalizing heat treatment at our Coatesville, PA facility. Normalizing heats forged components above their upper critical temperature and allows controlled air cooling, breaking up irregular grain structures formed during forging. The result is a uniform microstructure with improved tensile strength, toughness, ductility, and machinability — critical properties for defense-grade components.

For upset forgings, rings, and cylinders, MTS Forge can produce components up to 26 inches in diameter and up to 1,500 pounds per piece. Flanges are manufactured up to 14 inches in size. For other forging types including closed die, contour, and custom forgings, capacity details are best confirmed directly with our engineering team based on your specific program requirements.

Yes. In-house rough machining is performed immediately following the forging process. We remove forging flash, surface irregularities, and dimensional excess to bring parts to near-net shape, reducing the need for customers to source a separate machining vendor.
