Hot & Cold Plate Forming
In-house hot and cold plate forming with proprietary tooling design capabilities, enabling production of a diverse range of shapes cost-effectively for power generation, oil and gas, and structural applications.
Houston's energy and petrochemical sectors demand steel plate components built to exact tolerances — and that's exactly what MTS Forge delivers. From hot and cold plate forming to custom contour work, our metallurgist-founded team brings 40 years of forging expertise to every project. Precision-shaped. Competitively priced. Made in America.

From hot and cold plate forming to precision cutting and custom contour work, we deliver shape-critical steel components for Houston's most demanding industries.
In-house hot and cold plate forming with proprietary tooling design capabilities, enabling production of a diverse range of shapes cost-effectively for power generation, oil and gas, and structural applications.
Precision contour forging across a wide material spectrum — including duplex stainless steels like Ferralium 255 — delivering near-net-shape components that minimize downstream machining and material waste.
Fully custom-forged plate products built to your exact specifications. From small components to large structural sections, we combine advanced technology with decades of metallurgical craftsmanship for guaranteed performance.
In-house rough machining applied directly after forming to bring plates and forged components to near-net shape, reducing your lead times and eliminating the cost and risk of sourcing a separate machining vendor.
Electric eye contour burning services for steel plate materials up to 8 inches thick, delivering precise profile cuts for complex shapes required in heavy industrial and energy sector applications.
Precision sawing services for material outer diameters up to 16 inches, providing accurate stock preparation and blanking for plate forming and forging operations across all production scales.

Our metallurgically trained team reviews your drawings, material specs, and tolerances in detail. Houston's oil and gas and petrochemical projects often carry strict ASME and industry-specific requirements — we confirm compliance before a single press stroke begins.

Co-Founder
Stephen Carr co-founded Manufacturing & Technical Services, Inc. in 1986 alongside Edward Waddell, establishing MTS Forge on a foundation of metallurgical excellence and customer-first service. With a background in materials science and extensive hands-on knowledge of forging and plate forming practices, Stephen has spent nearly four decades guiding the company's technical direction. Under his leadership, MTS Forge has expanded from a regional forging shop into a nationally recognized supplier serving aerospace, defense, commercial nuclear, and oil and gas industries. Houston-area customers benefit from his deep understanding of the material and dimensional requirements that energy sector and petrochemical applications demand. Stephen's commitment to precision, traceability, and American manufacturing remains the cornerstone of every component MTS Forge produces.
Co-Founder
Edward Waddell is a co-founder of MTS Forge and has been instrumental in shaping the company's operational and technical capabilities since its founding in 1986. Bringing a strong metallurgical background and a practitioner's understanding of forging and plate forming processes, Edward has overseen the development of MTS Forge's in-house tooling design program — a key competitive advantage that allows the company to produce complex formed shapes efficiently and at competitive cost. His expertise in alloy behavior, press tonnage optimization, and quality system development has helped MTS Forge earn and maintain certifications critical to serving demanding customers in defense, power generation, and the Gulf Coast's energy sector. Edward's legacy is a team and facility built for consistency, craftsmanship, and long-term customer partnerships.
MTS Forge works with a broad range of materials including carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels (such as 316-L), high-performance nickel alloys like Monel K-500, and duplex stainless steels like Ferralium 255. Our metallurgist-led team selects the appropriate forming process — hot or cold — based on the specific alloy's mechanical properties and your application requirements.
