Custom-forged flange configurations tailored to exact specifications, combining cutting-edge forging technology with time-honored craftsmanship to meet the highest standards of durability and dimensional accuracy.
In-house rough machining applied to forged flange components to bring them close to near-net shape, reducing lead times and eliminating the need for a separate machining vendor after forging.
Specialized normalizing heat treatment for forged flanges, performed in-house at the Coatesville, PA facility to produce refined, uniform microstructure with consistent mechanical properties throughout each part.
Special forgings for Section III applications in 316-L Stainless Steel and alloy grades, produced under a comprehensive Quality Assurance Program encompassing Mil I 45208, NCA 3800, and Mil Q9858 standards.
Production of upset forgings, rings, and cylinders in nearly all grades, supporting flange-adjacent components up to 26 inches in diameter and 1500 pounds per piece for demanding industrial applications.

Edward Waddell co-founded MTS Forge in 1986 alongside Stephen Carr, bringing a metallurgical background and comprehensive knowledge of forging practices to the partnership. Together, they grew the company on a commitment to quality, service, and innovation — values that continue to define MTS Forge's operations today. Edward's deep understanding of forging materials and processes has driven the company's ability to serve highly regulated industries including commercial nuclear, aerospace, and defense, where precision, traceability, and mechanical reliability are non-negotiable. His leadership has helped MTS Forge expand its product range — including alloy steel pipe flanges, special forgings, and custom components — and maintain its reputation for excellence across its customer base in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kentucky, Texas, and beyond.
Alloy flanges are pipe flanges manufactured from steel alloys that contain additional elements — such as chromium, molybdenum, nickel, or manganese — beyond the base carbon content. These alloying elements enhance mechanical properties like tensile strength, toughness, hardness, and corrosion resistance. Common alloy steel grades used for flanges include ASTM A182 F11, F22, and F91, each suited to high-temperature or high-pressure service conditions in power generation, chemical processing, and similar industries.
