Co-Founder
Stephen Carr co-founded Manufacturing & Technical Services, Inc. (MTS Forge) in 1986 alongside Edward Waddell, bringing a strong metallurgical background and extensive hands-on knowledge of forging practices to the company. As a driving force behind MTS Forge's founding principles of quality and service, Stephen helped establish the technical foundation that has allowed the company to serve aerospace, defense, commercial nuclear, and power generation customers for nearly four decades. His deep understanding of high-performance alloys — including nickel alloys like Inconel — has been instrumental in building MTS Forge into a recognized leader in the precision forging industry, supplying mission-critical components to customers across Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kentucky, and Texas.

Edward Waddell co-founded MTS Forge in 1986 with Stephen Carr, combining a metallurgical background with deep expertise in forging practices to build a company centered on precision, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Edward's technical grounding in materials science has shaped MTS Forge's capability to work across a wide range of alloys — from alloy steels and stainless steels to demanding nickel alloys such as Inconel and Monel — for customers in industries where component failure is not an option. His leadership in advancing the company's quality assurance programs and in-house manufacturing capabilities has positioned MTS Forge as a trusted supplier to aerospace, defense, and commercial nuclear sectors for nearly 40 years.
Inconel is a registered trademark and was originally developed by Special Metals Corporation (now part of Precision Castparts Corp.). However, many manufacturers — including MTS Forge — produce forged components from Inconel alloys. MTS Forge sources Inconel bar and billet from qualified material suppliers and forges it into flanges, rings, cylinders, and custom shapes for aerospace, nuclear, and industrial applications.
