MTS Forge can produce upset forged rings up to 26 inches in maximum forging diameter, with individual piece weights up to 1,500 pounds. For requirements outside these standard parameters, our custom forging capabilities allow us to evaluate project-specific needs and develop appropriate tooling solutions to meet your dimensional and weight specifications.

We work with nearly all grades available in the market, including carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels such as 316-L, high-performance alloys like Monel K-500, duplex stainless steels like Ferralium 255, and other specialty materials. Our metallurgists will recommend the optimal material based on your application's mechanical, corrosion resistance, and environmental requirements.

Yes. MTS Forge performs in-house normalizing heat treatment at our Coatesville, PA facility. Normalizing heats forged components above their upper critical temperature, then allows controlled air cooling to break up uneven grain growth, relieve internal stresses, and produce a refined, uniform microstructure — improving tensile strength, toughness, ductility, and machinability across the entire forged ring.

MTS Forge operates under comprehensive Quality Assurance Programs including Mil I 45208, NCA 3800, and Mil Q9858. These certifications ensure complete traceability throughout the production process and meet the stringent quality standards required by aerospace, defense, commercial nuclear, and power generation customers who cannot accept deviations in material properties or dimensional conformance.

Yes. We provide in-house rough machining immediately following the forging process. This involves removing forging flash, surface irregularities, and dimensional excess to bring forged iron rings close to near-net shape. This eliminates the need for customers to source a separate machining vendor, reduces handling risk, shortens lead times, and lowers overall production cost.

MTS Forge is headquartered at 151 Greenbelt Drive, Coatesville, PA 19320. The company was founded in 1986 by Stephen Carr and Edward Waddell, giving us nearly 40 years of experience in industrial forging. Our Coatesville facility houses all forging, heat treatment, and rough machining operations, allowing us to maintain direct quality control over every stage of production.
